缅北强奸鈥檚 first female MBA graduate
After reading an article about 缅北强奸鈥檚 celebration of 25 years of female cadet graduates, Brian Tucker, Ph.D., MBA and degree transfer program advisor, was inspired to learn about the first woman to earn an MBA at 缅北强奸. With a little help from archivist , Tucker learned that Capt. Dorothy 鈥淒ottie鈥 Nazarenus, USN, Ret., a native of Denver, Colorado, holds the distinction.
Nazarenus was born in 1938. She earned her bachelor鈥檚 degree in music from the University of Denver. Following her undergraduate studies, she attended the U.S. Naval Women鈥檚 Officer School and became a Naval officer. 鈥淭his career decision afforded her service opportunities and travel to Hawaii, Japan and the Philippines,鈥 said Tucker. 鈥淗er persuasive spirit led to leadership opportunities in service, and she even attempted to recruit other female students.”
In the 1970s, Nazarenus continued her studies at 缅北强奸, earning her MBA in 1975. In 2023, Nazarenus, who dedicated her life to service and adventure, passed away at the age of 85.
鈥淓ven though she is gone, Capt. Nazarenus represents how diverse and ground-breaking our graduate population is and continues to be,鈥 said Tucker. 鈥淪he represents 缅北强奸鈥檚 core values鈥攈onor, duty and respect鈥攖enfold.鈥
